“In my journaling pages, I focus on what’s intriguing me at a particular point in time – the actual moment I’m sitting down to work on a spread. It’s very personal, the way we interpret materials, color, marks, composition, within our own context. The meanings we discover are not going to present the same way to everyone, but, in my journal, what other people think bears no weight. I’m able to create with freedom and to my heart’s content.” 

Viewing her journal practice as an invaluable form of self-care and an insightful tool used to inform her professional work, Sara encourages professional artists and hobbyists alike to pursue a creative routine through regular journaling sessions. She teaches workshops on this topic throughout the year, and is the founder of INSPIRED, a private membership program designed for artists, art lovers, and journaling devotees. 

In 2019, the Miami Design Preservation League selected Schroeder as the Art Deco Museum’s “Featured Local Artist”, and in 2021 she was chosen as Alto’s Featured Miami Artist for the luxury ride-share company’s “Alto + the Arts” initiative. 

Sara’s work is collected by many art enthusiasts and has been included in multiple group exhibitions. Her first solo show, “From There to Here” took place at Art at the Citadel, Miami, Florida, in May 2022.
